Hello, I took my Galaxy for a long drive today on the M40. Whilst about 30 miles through the run, I noticed that there was a sudden loss of power. My Galaxy is a 2.0 auto. Now I know this is the smallest of the petrol engined versions, but I was only doing around 70. I also noticed that the car was jerking. I had to do that "kick down" thing in order to keep the car at a constant 70.

Now to my knowledge, I am suspecting it to be a fuel problem. I'm thinking that either the fuel filter is clogged or the injectors could be dirty. When I got home I put some Redex in the tank. I'm gonna go for a short run at about 2am to see if it made any difference. The other thing is, I keep thinking about auto gearbox timing? is there such thing?

You'll have to excuse me, but I haven't had an auto before so its all new to me. I just hate things like this because I can't sleep properly :D

The other thing is that the engine in my Gal looks like the 2.0 in the RS 2000. I think the RS 2000 one was chain driven too.

I'm gettin really paranoid now and I'm thinking about changing the oil, air filter. oil filter. fuel filter, coolant and transmission fluid.

Why can't things just work! AAAAAAAAAAAAARgh! :D

Any suggestions? :D

Most likely to be an ignition fault, check coil(pak), leads and plugs......

Or tank vent blocked ? or an EGR problem.

Ok, thanks for the info guys, I checked all the leads. I got all the stuff today to do a home service on the Gal. The thing is, where abouts does the fuel filter go on the Gal? Is it near the fuel tank? or nearer to the engine?

I'm sorry to ask this question, I think I'll order a Haynes manual for the Gal. :)
